Romantic day-after portraits

Maricel and Paul's wedding in Hawaii (Poipu, Kauai) was a dream come true to me as a photographer and as their wedding guest. If anyone is questioning whether or not elope and get married in Hawaii - the answer will always be a YES. I mean - just look at the landscape you can work with here people! So it was without question, I knew I was going to do bridal portraits for them the day after they said "I do."

I've always loved the idea of working with a photographer the day after your big day. You get to wear your wedding outfit again, get dolled up and enjoy your brand spankin new spouse. So when I approached Maricel and Paul if they would work with me on these portraits, I thought that maybe they would not be as open to making the trek out for even more photos. But alas, they were GAME. We established our shoot location at Shipwreck Beach and then proceeded to climbing up a semi questionable hike (in heels and all of Maricels regalia) to a lookout point where the scenery was insanely breathtaking. For a 180 degree view, all one could see were the waves crashing against the rocks, the ocean and sky meeting, wind blowing away all the worries of the world - it was truly a magical place and my words cannot describe it to justice.

I will forever empower my couples to opt for a day-after wedding portrait session. The intimacy is so much more refined without the hustle and bustle of a wedding day timeline and onlookers. It's just you, your day old spouse and me (your 3rd wheel) and your amazing wedding attire. Beacause - why not wear that outfit again and make that money worth it!? So to anyone thinking if day-after portraits are worth the trouble...the answer is yes, yes it is.
